Woke up early with my family this morning to watch the sun rise in Ormond Beach. It was hard to leave the fishing poles behind but with the high winds, I had a feeling things would be churned up. We arrived about 15 minutes before the sun was due to make its morning appearance. About 2 minutes before the sun showed itself, a snowy egret (bottom left) flew in, landed, and seemed to watch the horizon. Our focus switched from the sunrise to the bird watching the sunrise. He stood motionless, staring out at the horizon as the sun slowly lit the morning sky. I wonder if this bird and maybe millions of others do this on occasion just like us?
