So after a morning of catching big Black Drum, Jacks, Trout, and Snapper in Daytona on Sunday. Eric and Bernice T. of PA were ready to book another guided fishing trip on Tuesday. This time the target species had the ability to bite back. I met them in Port Orange Florida at the boat launch under the Dunlawton Bridge. With 100 lively shrimp from Dons Bait and Tackle in the livewell, we set off towards Ponce Inlet. We made a pit stop along some docks and missed a couple of big fish. Got a few pinfish including one that must have been 14″, as well as a fat Mangrove Snapper. With the tide just about perfect we made our way to the bonnethead shark spot. Within minutes of casting the baits out it was fish on. Eric took the first drag burner and we CPRed (catch, photo, release) it.
Not 5 minutes later Bernie was fighting shark number 2.
It went on like this until they both had their fill and then we moved on. The rest of the trip was all about variety. Grouper, Snapper, Flounder, Jacks, and Ladyfish. What a great day on the water with great people! Can’t wait to do it again in September!
