Inshore charter fishing in Ormond Beach has been outstanding for for the past few weeks.
Black Drum, Snook, Tarpon, Trout, and Pompano have been the main catches. We also nearly limited out on Mangrove Snapper a few days ago on a guided fishing trip I ran in Daytona. I like to use a live shrimp on a 1/0 circle hook and a split shot just heavy enough to get the bait near the bottom for these tasty treats. Find yourself an oyster bar and get ready for some action! Get out early for the trout bite. Most of them are running small 15-17″ but we are getting a few in the low 20″ range. The shrimp are still running strong. Nothing beats free bait! Most of the fish we are catching in Ormond and Daytona are being caught on live shrimp. The fish are really keyed into them. Stay tuned for a recap from today’s charter. I’ll give you a hint. We got some nice Snook!!
