Most of you that have been fishing the inshore waterways of Ormond and Daytona Beach have caught a cluster of these and wondered, “what the heck?” For those of you that don’t know, they are the eggs of the Florida Crown Conch.
An edible species of marine gastropod or sea snail. Although I have personally never eaten them, I have heard they are delicious. Simply boil them shell and all and pluck the meat out with a toothpick and dip in garlic butter. If you set crab traps, you have probably caught loads of these guys. If you plan on harvesting, make sure there is a snail inside and not a hermit crab.
